Recommendations

Weather and attire: In July, London usually enjoys pleasant temperatures, with average highs around 23°C and lows of 15°C. However, the weather can be unpredictable, so it is recommended to bring a light jacket and an umbrella or raincoat in case of rain.

Transport to ExCeL London: The ExCeL London convention centre is well connected by public transport. You can get there using the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), with stations such as Custom House and Prince Regent dropping you off directly at the venue. Plan your route in advance to ensure you arrive on time for your commitments.

Personal safety: London is generally a safe city, but it’s important to take usual precautions. Keep your personal belongings, such as mobile phones and wallets, secure and out of sight in crowded areas to avoid pickpockets. Also, be cautious when using ATMs and avoid carrying large amounts of cash.

Local exploration: Take advantage of your stay to explore nearby areas such as Canary Wharf, known for its modern architecture and variety of restaurants and shops. In addition, the O2 Arena and the Olympic Park are within easy reach and offer many entertainment and dining options.

Areas to stay:

🏢 1. Staying near ExCeL London (for maximum convenience):

Recommended areas:

Royal Victoria
Custom House
Prince Regent

Advantages:

You’re only 5–10 minutes walking from the convention centre.
You avoid public transport during peak hours.
There are hotel chains like Hilton, Novotel, ibis and Aloft right next door.

Ideal if: You’re focused on the conference, have meetings, or want to rest quickly after a long day.

🌆 2. Staying in Central London (for more atmosphere and options):

Recommended areas:

Canary Wharf: Modern, business-oriented and just 15–20 minutes by DLR from ExCeL. Full of great restaurants and business hotels.
London Bridge / South Bank / Tower Hill: A bit farther (30–40 minutes), but you’re in the heart of London’s tourist and cultural life, with great underground connections (Jubilee line + DLR).

Ideal if: You want to combine the event with some tourism, nightlife, or more varied dining experiences.

Recommended Hotels:

Near ExCeL London

Aloft London ExCeL

Novotel London ExCeL

DoubleTree by Hilton London ExCeL

Near Canary Wharf

London Marriott Hotel Canary Wharf

Canary Riverside Plaza Hotel

Novotel London Canary Wharf

Hotel or Airbnb?

Hotels: They offer services like daily housekeeping, on-site restaurants, gyms, and in some cases, direct access to the convention centre. They’re ideal if you’re looking for comfort, extra amenities, and proximity to the event.

Airbnb: Can provide a more personalized and sometimes more economical experience, especially for longer stays. However, it’s essential to check the location and its proximity to public transport to ensure easy access to ExCeL London.

Conclusion: If you prioritize convenience and additional services, a hotel near ExCeL or in Canary Wharf would be the best choice. If you prefer a more home-like experience and potentially lower costs—especially for extended stays—Airbnb could be suitable, as long as you consider the location and transportation options.
