To attend this major event, the best area to stay in will depend on your priorities: proximity to the event, transportation, or a more central city experience. Here are some recommended areas:
L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (area near Fira Gran Vía):
Advantages: It is the closest area to Fira Gran Vía, just a few minutes away on foot or by public transport. As a business area, it has numerous modern hotels geared toward business travelers, such as Hotel SB Plaza Europa or Renaissance Barcelona Fira Hotel.
Recommendation: If your priority is proximity to the fair and avoiding long commutes, this is the ideal option.
Plaça Espanya / Sants-Montjuïc:
Advantages: It is well connected to Fira Gran Vía via Line 9 of the metro (direct from Plaça Espanya). Additionally, Plaça Espanya is an important transportation hub with connections to other parts of Barcelona and the airport. Recommended hotels include Hotel Catalonia Barcelona Plaza and B-Hotel.
Recommendation: This area is ideal if you want to be close to the fair but also enjoy more tourist and leisure options in Barcelona, as it is just 10-15 minutes away from Fira by metro.
Eixample:
Advantages: It is one of the most iconic and central areas of Barcelona. Although it is a bit further from Fira Gran Vía (about 25-30 minutes by metro), it’s perfect if you want to explore the city during your visit. The transport is very efficient, with direct metro lines.
Recommendation: Hotels like Hotel Omm or Majestic Hotel & Spa offer a more central experience with access to restaurants, shops, and tourist attractions like the Sagrada Familia.
El Poblenou:
Advantages: It is an up-and-coming area with many accommodation options and easy access to Fira Gran Vía. It’s known for its modern vibe and proximity to the beaches.
Recommendation: It’s ideal if you prefer a more relaxed and modern atmosphere. Additionally, it is well connected by metro (Line 9) to the Fira.
El Prat de Llobregat:
Advantages: If you prefer to be close to Barcelona-El Prat Airport and Fira Gran Vía, this is a convenient option. It is well connected to the fair via metro (Line 9).
Recommendation: This is a very functional option if you are looking for convenience and quick travel between the airport and the Fira.
Summary:
If you’re looking for proximity, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat or El Prat are the best options.
If you prefer a more tourist and cultural experience, choose Eixample or Sants-Montjuïc.
For a more modern and relaxed stay, Poblenou is an excellent choice.
In any case, Barcelona has an excellent public transport system that makes it easy to access the Fira from almost any part of the city.
